Changing Your Wallpaper
In today's high tech digital world, your gadgets often become a reflection of you. Think about your cell phone with your favorite ring, or your iPod decked out in your favorite color...So is there any reason why your computer shouldn't be as unique as you are? Of course not! That's why you should learn the most obvious and drastic way to change your computer's appearance...You should learn to change your wallpaper!
What is the Wallpaper?
The wallpaper is the background picture that is displayed on your computer "underneath it all"...Underneath the windows, the icons, the task bar, everything. It's the picture that's displayed when you turn on your computer when Windows initially loads and for most, it's a picture of clouds, or a rolling hill. For others, it's a picture of Gateway or Dell's logo. Whichever the case, it's a good bet that the picture isn't you. And that's why we're aiming to change the wallpaper.Where is the Wallpaper?
The first step in the process is of course figuring out where the wallpaper is stored on your hard drive. If you don't know that, then you will obviously not know where to put any new wallpaper you manage to get. Mainly, there are two places that your wallpaper is stored, either in your "Windows" directory or in your "Windows\Web\Wallpaper" directory...And those wallpaper files are usually of bmp or jpg type. Changing the wallpaper couldn't be an easier thing to do. Essentially what you must do is...Go into the Display Properties and select a different wallpaper. See? Easy. To first learn how to change the wallpaper, we don't even need to find another one, because Windows often comes with a bunch for you to choose from. - Right click on the desktop/directly on top of your current wallpaper and select "Properties".
- On the window that comes up, click the tab titled "Desktop".
- In this tab, there is a list of wallpapers under the title "Background:"
Simply select one and hit the "Apply" button in the lower right.
